Willem Haenraets was born in Heerlen (the Netherlands) on October 9th., 1940. At the age of 16 he went to the Town Academy of Applied Arts in Maastricht. This was followed by a study at the National Higher Institute for Fine Arts in Antwerp. Under the terms of the Belgian-Dutch Cultural Treaty he was awarded a grant. He was student in the Master-Classes of Prof. Sarina (Atelier-Opsomer) and Prof. Vaarten. After finishing his studies he started to create art with a capital A. Willem Haenraets exposed in Amsterdam, Brussels, Frankfurt, Paris, London, New York, Los Angeles, Beverly Hills and Tokyo. He is a timeless artist, whose romantic scenes in soft colours are famous all over the world.
As young boy, he showed allready a lot of talent. When he was seventeen years old, he went to the Art Academy of Maastricht. After 4 years of studying, Willem received a scholarship from the Belgiangovernment to study at the Belgian National Institute for Fine Arts inAntwerp. After that he had completed his Master-Classes with ProfessorSarina (Atelier Opsomer) and Professor Vaarten.
Willem Haenraets is an impressionist who makes modern artworks which are full of ambiance, color and light. He is a timeless artist, whose romantic scenes in gentle colours are wellknown over the whole world.
He held expositions in Amsterdam, Brussels, Maastricht, Frankfurt, Milan, Paris, London, New York, Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Nagoya in Japan.
